St. John’s Soccer Club is hosting a youth level referee course on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at MacDonald Drive Junior High. The course begins at 9am and ends at 5pm. The fee for the course is $30.00 (tax included). To register, please contact St. John’s Soccer club at firstname.lastname@example.org.
MPSA hosted our 3rd Annual Frosty Festival Soccer Tournament this past weekend. The tournament saw over 190 children from grades 1-4 from MQW, Morris Academy, St. Peter’s Primary and Newtown Elementary schools participating. Special thanks to the teachers of each school for promoting this weekend of fun filled soccer.

Please note the Entry Level Referee Clinic scheduled February 27-March 1 has been rescheduled for March 13-15 at MacDonald Drive Junior High School in St. John’s.
The course costs $66.67 plus hst and advance registration is required. Participants can register in person at the NLSA office during normal office hours, or send a cheque in the mail. Registration is only accepted when payment is received. Minimum age is 14 as of April 1st (no exceptions).
The Entry Level course is the basic course for those refereeing 11/ side soccer, covering all aspects of the Laws of the Game. The course is 16 hours long, and participants must attend the entire course. The course consists of a mixture of classroom lectures, video instruction and practical on-field exercises. Participants must complete a pre-course work book, and pass an examination at the conclusion of the course. It is highly recommended for active players of the game, for those with a small sided referee qualification who want to referee 11/side soccer, and for anyone with an interest in refereeing. MPSA would like to congratulate Hannah Noseworthy on being named the recipient of the 2014 Mount Pearl Sports Alliance Female Athlete of the Year. Hannah is a goalkeeper with both the Mount Pearl Soccer Association Jubilee Trophy team and the Memorial Seahawks. She has worked as the House League Coordinator for the past number of years with the association and is a great role model for the young people in our community.

Mount Pearl Soccer has moved indoors for our winter soccer league! The main focus of the winter training program is to improve players’ overall technical ability within an active and high-paced form of play. Indoor training is for all age groups, please see link below for scheduled times and locations.
While skill development is key, players will also be able to benefit from the opportunity to compete with other teams over the course of the program. The MPSA are still accepting registrations for the Winter League. The program is open to players of all skill levels, with final decisions on teams announced in the spring.
