Club League - Become a Coach

Jun. 13, 2022

MPSA Coaching Opportunities

Volunteers are the backbone of our association, and what better way to get involved then coaching with us over the summer?

We are Looking for Coaches for our 2022 Club League Program

Our Club League or formally known as House Leage Program here at MPSA is for ages 6+ and is focused on developing soccer skills. Assigned to teams with 10 - 14 players, our volunteer coaches work to teach the fundamentals of soccer through a full one hour game.

Coaches will be provided with game sheets at the beginning of the season which break down how to assign your players per hour game. Our technical director will also be available to take any questions throughout the summer and provide coaching resources.

Coaching is not only a great way to get involved with the association, but also to make lifelong memories with your players!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

I've Never Coached Before.. Can I Still Apply?

Yes absolutely! Our Club League Program is an introduction to soccer and recreational league with varying levels of experience and practice that is meant for everyone, including our coaches! Plenty of parents, guardians and volunteer start coaching with no prior experience and quickly pick up the fundamentals for a great summer!

Is There Training Required?

No, but we will provide a coaches meeting at the start of the summer which attendance is highly recommended. This coaches meeting will be led by our technical director and will run through the basics of everything you need to know for the summer, and further resources.

What am I Required to Bring?

We provide everything you'll need to get started with coaching! From game sheets and a clipboard to your coaching shirt and a soccer ball. All you are required to bring is a positive attitude to the field!

Where are the Sessions?

Our Club League Programs run on three separate fields here in Mount Pearl.

  • Under 7 - Lower Smallwood Field (44 Arena Road)
  • Under 9 - Sandpitch Field (46 Ruth Avenue)
  • Under 11 - Central Field (46 Ruth Avenue)
  • Under 13 - Middle Smallwood (44 Arena Road)

What Does the Time Commitment Look Like?

Our Club League teams play twice a week (Mondays & Wednesdays or Tuesdays & Thursdays) for an hour each slot. Coaches are asked to attend all games, and try to arrive 15minutes beforehand to greet players and let them start warming up!

*We know that everyone has commitments over the summer at one point or another. While coaches are encouraged to attend all games, we understand that this may not be possible for everyone. There is flexibility here for other parents or guardians on the team to step up for the week or individual slot, or as a last resort have a staff member step in!

How Long Does the Program Run For?

Our summer programs run from the beginning of July to the end of August, with a final Super Soccer Saturday Celebration in the beginning of September.
