Volunteers are the backbone of our association, and what better way to get involved than by coaching with us this summer?
Our Club League offers programming for Under-7 to Under-15 players, focusing on fostering a love for soccer and encouraging active participation in a fun, social, and physical environment.
As a volunteer coach, you will lead a team of 10-14 players, helping them develop soccer fundamentals through a one-hour game format each session. Coaches will receive game sheets at the beginning of the season to assist with player rotations. Additionally, our Technical Directors will be available throughout the summer to answer any questions and provide coaching resources.
Coaching with MPSA is a fantastic opportunity to give back to the community, support young athletes, and create lifelong memories!

Canada Soccer has updated its Grassroots Standards, which guide soccer development in Canada up to the Under-13 level. All clubs operating youth programs, including the Mount Pearl Soccer Association (MPSA), will be required to comply with these standards by the start of the 2026 season.
To ensure a smooth transition, MPSA will begin introducing key components this season.
One important requirement of the CSA Grassroots Standards is coaching qualifications. The MPSA Club League falls under the Community Stream, meaning all coaches will need to meet the following minimum requirements:
Coach Qualification | 2025 Requirement | 2026 Requirement |
Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screen | Required | Required |
Grassroot Coach Online Training (Active Start, FUNdamentals, Learn to Train, Soccer for Life) | Recommended | Required |
Canada Soccer Coaching Soccer in Canada Online Module* | Recommended | Required |
Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders Program | Recommended | Required |
Note: The Canada Soccer Coaching Soccer in Canada Online Module becomes available in your CSA SmarterU Account after completing an age-appropriate Grassroots Coach Online Training session such as Active Start, FUNdamentals, Learn to Train, and Soccer for Life. There are no evaluations in the Grassroots Coach Education Program—coaches completing all the requirements above will be classified as Trained Coaches.
If you do not currently have a valid Criminal Record Check (CRC), you can apply for one using the following LINK. To waive the associated fee, please download and include a Volunteer letter with your CRC application.
More information about the Grassroot Coach Education Program is available on the CSA website.

Yes absolutely! Our Club League Program is an introduction to soccer and recreational leagues with varying levels of experience and practice that is meant for everyone, including our coaches! Plenty of parents, guardians, and volunteers start coaching with no prior experience and quickly pick up the fundamentals for a great summer!
No, but we will provide a coaches meeting at the start of the summer which attendance is highly recommended. This coaches meeting will be led by our technical director and will run through the basics of everything you need to know for the summer, and further resources.
Above you can find the coaching online training courses that are recommended by the MPSA in 2025 and will be a requirement for all coaches in 2026 season as per the CSA Grassroots Standards.
We provide everything you'll need to get started with coaching! From game sheets and a clipboard to your coaching shirt and a soccer ball. All you are required to bring is a positive attitude to the field!
Our Club League Programs run on three separate fields here in Mount Pearl.
Our Club League teams play twice a week (Mondays & Wednesdays or Tuesdays & Thursdays) for a one-hour time slot. Coaches are asked to attend all games, and try to arrive 15 minutes beforehand to greet players and start warming up!
*We know that everyone has commitments over the summer at one point or another. While coaches are encouraged to attend all games, we understand that this may not be possible for everyone. There is flexibility here for other parents or guardians on the team to step up for the week or individual slot, or as a last resort have a staff member step in!
Our summer programs run from July 2nd to August 28th, with a final Super Soccer Saturday Celebration to follow on September 4th.
