Awards: Current Winners & Information


The MPSA Awards program recognizes and honours outstanding achievements of our club members. We present awards to Male and Female Players of the Year, with Youth awards being added this year in addition to the Senior awards, Coach, Team, and Official of the Year, as well as Volunteer and Alumni of the Year.

 

2021 Season Award Winners

Neil Bodman Youth Male Player of the Year:

Colin Dyer

Colin Dyer is the recipient of this year's Neil Bodman Youth Male Athlete of the Year! Colin played on MPSA BU15 PYL team last season under Coach Moyst. A big Congratulations to Colin!

 

 

Dave LeGrow Youth Female Player of the Year:

Baileigh Andrews

Congratulations to Baileigh Andrews for being awarded the 2021 MPSA Dave LeGrow Female Youth Athlete of the Year. Baileigh played with the MPSA GU13 PYL team last season.

 

Senior Male Player of the Year:

Russell Noseworthy

A big congratulations to Russell Noseworthy on being awarded the MPSA Senior Male Athlete of the Year award for 2021. Russell made his return to soccer last year playing with Wade Abbott Dentistry Mens Masters team.

 

 

Senior Female Player of the Year:

Beth Tremblett

Beth Tremblett was a member of our Ladies Intermediate team this past season and not only worked hard on the field but off the field recruiting some quality players to the team. Congratulations Beth on receiving the 2021 MPSA Senior Female Player of the Year!

 

 

Coach of the Year:

Cathy Snelgrove and Dean Blanks

A double congratulations!! Cathy Snelgrove and Dean Blanks have been a coaching team for a number of years... so only fitting that they are awarded the MPSA Coach of the Year together! Congratulations Cathy and Dean!!

 

Team of the Year:

MPSA Boys Under 15 - Tier 1

Another great season for this team!! A big Congratulations to Coach Moyst and our MPSA BU15 PYL team on being recognized as MPSA Team of the Year! They placed first in the league in the season and won the Bronze medal in the playoffs! Congratulations to the coaches and players! Great job!

 

Official of the Year:

Colin Dyer

Congratulations to Colin Dyer on being recognized as this year's MPSA Official of the Year! Colin was a regular on the soccer fields this summer - as a player and a ref in PYL. Keep up the great work, Colin!

 

Volunteer of the Year:

Jonny Andrews

Congratulations to Jonny Andrews - Board member; PYL, Metro, and Club league coach; cheerleader, and biggest soccer fan there is! If you have been on a soccer field in Mount Pearl this year, chances are you saw Jonny, our MPSA Volunteer of the Year!

 

Alumni of the Year:

Jim Bulger

A big Congratulations to this father, grandfather, coach, and long time MPSA volunteer, Mr. Jim Bulger. He has a true love for our community and our club and Jim has always put Youth First. Congratulations Jim on receiving the MPSA Alumni of the Year award!

 

Achievement Award:

Cathy Snelgrove

Cathy Snelgrove played double duty this year coaching both the BU13 Metro team and the BU11 Metro team. Besides her considerable soccer experience she has a natural ability to make every child feel important and can take a group of children and make them a true team! Congratulations Cathy on earning the MPSA Achievement Award!

 

Recognition Award:

Peter Jacobs

Peter Jacobs was a player on our BU15 PYL team this season. However, he also stepped up to be a Junior Coach with the BU8 Metro team attending their training sessions and games. Congratulations Peter on receiving this year's Recognition Award!

Awards Information (Nominations)

MPSA accepts nominations for all awards following the close of our current season (September - October).

 

RULES FOR NOMINATION

  • Nominations must be made in one of the specified categories
  • Nominees for the awards must be a MPSA member in good standing 

  • Awards are considered for outstanding performance or series of performances in the year of the nomination - it is not based on a history of performance or achievements

  • Nominations may be made by members of MPSA (players, parent/guardian of a registered minor players under age of 19, coaching staff, executive members, officials, or a previously elected executive member of MPSA.)

  • The final decision regarding nominations and eligibility will rest with the MPSA Award Selection Committee, which is comprised of several Alumni members.

 

GUIDELINES FOR NOMINATIONS

  • Include only information pertaining to the past year’s activities (one year only)
  • Outline achievements in point form and expand when necessary

  • Include a digital photograph of the nominee

 

NOMINATION CATEGORIES

  • Neil Bodman Youth Male Player of the Year: This award recognizes and honours a male player (age 18 or younger) who demonstrated excellence on and off the field.  They exhibit leadership, skill, and talent that has brought positive attention to MPSA.  Please keep in mind that only achievements during the Fall 2020 - Summer 2021 training year are considered.
  • Dave LeGrow Youth Female Player of the Year: This award recognizes and honours a female player (age 18 or younger) who demonstrated excellence on and off the field.  They exhibit leadership, skill, and talent that has brought positive attention to MPSA.  Please keep in mind that only achievements during the Fall 2020 - Summer 2021 training year are considered.

  • Senior Male Player of the Year: This award recognizes and honours a male player (age 19 or older) who demonstrated excellence on and off the field.  They exhibit leadership, skill, and talent that has brought positive attention to MPSA.  Please keep in mind that only achievements during the Fall 2020 - Summer 2021 training year are considered.

  • Senior Female Player of the Year: This award recognizes and honours a male player (age 19 or older) who demonstrated excellence on and off the field.  They exhibit leadership, skill, and talent that has brought positive attention to MPSA.  Please keep in mind that only achievements during the Fall 2020 - Summer 2021 training year are considered.

  • Coach of the Year: This award recognizes and honours a coach who demonstrated excellence on and off the field.  They exhibit leadership and skill, design and deliver effective and engaging training, and experienced success during the season that has brought positive attention to MPSA.  Please keep in mind that only achievements during the Fall 2020 - Summer 2021 training year are considered.

  • Team of the Year: This award recognizes and honours a Metro, PYL, or Senior League team that demonstrated excellence on and off the field.  They exhibit a commitment to training, growth and development of their skills, and success during the season that has brought positive attention to MPSA.  Please keep in mind that only achievements during the Fall 2020 - Summer 2021 training year are considered.

  • Official of the Year: This award recognizes and honours a MPSA official for exemplary performance in officiating for our Club, Metro, and/or PYL Leagues.  They exhibit leadership, a thorough understanding of the rules of the game, and strong communication skills. Please keep in mind that only achievements during the Fall 2020 - Summer 2021 year are considered.

  • Volunteer of the Year: This award recognizes and honours a MPSA Parent, Player, member of Coaching Staff, Board member, or Alumni who through their contributions, have brought positive attention to MPSA and helped build a stronger Association. Please keep in mind that only achievements during the Fall 2020 - Summer 2021 year are considered.

  • Alumni of the Year: This award recognizes and honours an Alumni who made significant contributions to MPSA and the community bringing positive attention to MPSA. Please keep in mind that only achievements during the Fall 2020 - Summer 2021 year are considered.

  • Achievement Award: This award recognizes and honours an individual member for their performance and/or their contribution to the success of their team or the association or a team for their performance and contribution to our Club and/or community. Please keep in mind that only achievements during the Fall 2020 - Summer 2021 year are considered. 

  • Recognition Award: This award recognizes and honours a member of MPSA who exhibits commitment and determination through their contributions to soccer and our club. It is about celebrating the joy of the soccer experience and demonstrating values such as fairness, dedication, respect, and fun. Please keep in mind that only achievements during the Fall 2020 - Summer 2021 year are considered.
