2026-2027 Identification Sessions & Tryouts

Itโ€™s time to get back on the pitch! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ–ค

Mount Pearl Soccer Association is excited to announce that Identification Sessions & Tryouts for the 2026-2027 season are here!

Over the coming weeks, players from U7 through U17 will take to the MPSA Turf as we begin building our winter training groups and teams for the season ahead.

Whether youโ€™re a returning MPSA player or hoping to join us for the first time, weโ€™re looking forward to welcoming you to the pitch and seeing you play!

MPSA operates a 40-week soccer program, providing players with an environment to train, compete, develop and enjoy the game throughout much of the year. Our Identification Sessions and Tryouts are the first step in that journey.

Registration is now open!

A Development-Focused Approach

Our identification process looks a little different depending on the age of the player.

For our U7-U9 players, these are Identification Sessions, not traditional team tryouts. Players will be placed into balanced winter training pools designed to provide an enjoyable, challenging and developmentally appropriate environment.

At these ages, our priority is to help players build a love of the game, develop their individual skills and give them the best possible opportunity to grow.

Team placement, where applicable, will take place later in the winter season.

For our U10-U17 players, Identification Sessions and Tryouts will be used to select teams for the upcoming season. Selected teams will train together throughout the winter program in preparation for the competitive season, with opportunities to train within larger groups similar to last season.

Identification & Tryout Schedule

All sessions will take place at the MPSA Turf, 44 Arena Road, Mount Pearl.

Registration & Attendance

The registration deadline is September 20, 2026.

Players should attend as many of their scheduled sessions as possible. Attendance is required for consideration for placement, and players will be evaluated based on the sessions they attend.

We understand that exceptional circumstances sometimes arise. Where a player is unable to attend for a valid reason, the situation will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. An activity conflict or simply choosing not to attend a scheduled session will not normally be considered grounds for an alternate evaluation.

Late registration requests will also be considered on a case-by-case basis and cannot be guaranteed.

A Fair & Consistent Selection Process

We want every player and family entering this process to know that our goal is to make placements as fair, consistent and objective as possible.

Evaluations will be led by MPSA's Technical Directors and Allstar Director, supported by selected objective coaching staff.

Coaches will not select players for teams or pools they will personally coach.

For U7-U9, evaluations will help us create balanced, developmentally appropriate winter training pools. For U10-U17, player evaluations will be used as part of the team-selection process.

Winter coaching assignments will be determined after player placements and team selections have been finalized.

Individual player evaluations will remain confidential and will not be provided to parents, guardians or the coaching staff of selected teams or groups.

We Can't Wait to See You on the Pitch!

Identification Sessions and Tryouts are an exciting first step into a new season. We want every player who walks onto the MPSA Turf to feel welcomed, supported and ready to play.

Come ready to work hard, challenge yourself, enjoy the game and show us what you can do.

To our returning players โ€” welcome back!

And to players joining MPSA for the first time โ€” we canโ€™t wait to meet you!

A new season starts here.

See you on the pitch! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ–ค
